Many of our schools decided to do their part and send money for relief efforts to Haiti. MCPSS students were touched by the devastation to reach out in support and show they care. Read some of the creative and heartwarming projects some of our schools are doing to mke a difference.
OLD SHELL ROAD-
Old Shell Road School would like to thank all the students, parents, faculty, and staff who participated in the "Hearts for Haiti" campaign. During the month of February, everyone who donated to the Haiti fund was given a heart to decorate for the Haiti bulletin
board. We raised $1,355.97! This money will go to the Doctors without Borders organization. This organization is providing the much needed medical help to the victims of the tragic earthquake. EANES Middle- Thanks to the students, staff, and community for your donates. The old cell phones, chargers and cell phone batteries were used for our relief efforts to Haiti. LEINKAUF Elementary- The school held a week of activities, which included expository writing that addressed the devastation in Haiti; Classroom Penny Drive; Bracelet sales and a Red Shirt Day wear students and staff paid one dollar to dress in a red shirt to honor the victims.
SEMMES Middle- Ms. Leigh Ann Long, sixth grade teacher, led students in a service project observing the 100th day of school by asking them to donate 100 pennies each (or more) to aid victims of the earthquake in Haiti. They collected 125,120 pennies! This is a total of $1,251.20 to send to Haiti via the Red Cross.
MARYVALE Elementary-"Highway to Haiti" collection. Ms. Bryant, PreK teacher, organized a daily collection that began on 1/20 and continued until 1/29. Each day, students were asked to contribute to help those in Haiti who are suffering as a result of the terrible earthquake.

I would also like to say how proud I am of my students. I work at O'Rourke and we did a penny drive too. Our student council created a short video for the students to watch. After watching the video, students began bringing in money. I decided to make a class goal. We came up with a goal of $50. I was so amazed at how giving my class was. Many of my students brought in their allowance, birthday money and snack money. With in two days, we had reached our $50 goal. Now we are working on reaching $100!

I am so proud of all the schools for taking the iniciative to raise funds for Haiti.
I must give a Shout Out to our School, Eichold-Mertz, for doing the same. I'm so proud of our students, and faculty. They are remarkable kids and adults who really want to help out.
Thanks to ALL our students, teachers, and parents in our county for helping in this cause!
God Bless You All!

Council's drive to help Haiti was a student-initiated effort. Thank you, Marcus Dorsey, for exhibiting so many profiles promoted through our IB program. You're an inspiration to children and adults alike!

Eichold-Mertz collected for Haiti, too. Our students were very generous. We were sad for what happened in that country.

It's great that you would think of someone other than yourselves because we have enough stuff and we take that stuff for granted but they nothing and what they do have they appreciate it so I hope that this opportunity is a life changing experirence for us and them.
Sincerely,
Briana

I work at CLC where our students wanted to donate money to Haiti. We are so proud of our students for this effort. We are a small school but have a big heart. Together we can and will make a difference.
